Shmuel Einav, Ph.D.
Director, Medical Technologies Division
Dr. Shmuel Einav, Professor of Biomedical Engineering, is a world-distinguished expert in the cardiovascular circulatory system and the field of biomedical engineering. He is best known for his studies on blood flow through heart valves, coronary circulation, blood-tissue interaction, and flow and turbulent characteristics in occluded arteries. The focus of his research is the role of Hemodynamics in the initiation of atherosclerosis, the dynamics of cardiovascular flows, and the influence of flow and the associated shear stress on vascular endothelial biology. In recognition of his significant achievements and important contributions to science, biomedicine and technology, he has been elected as a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE), Fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), Fellow of the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) and a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
